Coronavirus Symptoms May Also Include Foot Sores

In the current climate we’re all worried about the impact of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak on our everyday lives. Most of us have taken steps to ensure that we remain safe such as social distancing (avoiding close contact with others) and wearing face masks if appropriate. We also know that we must carry out hand washing regularly and use hand sanitizer such as the travel sanitizer that we supply, when we’re out to help reduce the chances of us getting the virus.

Common COVID-19 Symptoms

One of the issues with COVID-19 is that because it is such a new virus, we are still learning about how it is spread and what its symptoms are. Generally, we understand that there are some common symptoms associated with the coronavirus disease such as:

• – Dry cough
• – Fatigue and body aches
• – Fever
• – Elderly individuals at a higher risk
• – Potential loss of smell
• – Tends to be more serious in those with underlying medical conditions

It should be noted that these coronavirus symptoms are not always the same in every individual and some people get the coronavirus worse than others. Some individuals have mild symptoms and even some people who have tested positive for coronavirus display no symptoms at all. New Data Suggests a link with Coronavirus and Foot Sores

As mentioned since the COVID-19 virus pandemic is so new, we are still learning more about this severe illness and new potential symptoms are coming to light. One of the potential symptoms of COVID-19 disease is of the appearance of foot sores.

The Spanish General Council of the Official Podiatrist College has noted that some COVID-19 patients have had purple lesions on their feet. These have been described as having the appearance of chickenpox or measles. When these foot sores have been noted in a patient they have appeared on the toes. Another indicator that doctors have noticed is that the foot sores also tend to occur in younger patients. The lesions also heal by themselves and occur early on in the infection stage, meaning that they might be an early sign of a COVID-19 infection. These lesions were seen in patients from Italy, Spain and France.

It should be noted that foot sores are not official symptoms of coronavirus as denoted by the CDC or the WHO but since we supply both travel hand sanitizers, and products for fungal nail infections, that occur on the feet, we understand that our customers may come to our site looking for these products and we want them to be aware of the potential link to coronavirus and foot sores.
